Acrylic on Watercolor Paper.
This painting was used as the wraparound cover for an illustrated novel of the true story of a mining disaster in Cherry, Illinois, in the early 1900's. Some of the references used came from the actual historic photographs. The final illustration was an attempt to show the emotion and intensity of the story as well as the realness and heroism of the miners.
